ArtSciLab Coordinator, Mahmoud Elkarmalawy's student organization, UTDallas Combat Robotics, was awarded "Best Design" for their "Using AI to Help a Combat Robot Navigate a Treacherous Path" entry at the inaugural DFW AI Small Vehicle Self Driving Showcase. Their entry aimed to equip a flipper combat robot with an environment detection system that would scan the surrounding vicinity for incoming opponents and other traps, make a real-time recommendation on how to respond to the team, and recenter itself in the best position to avoid any harm.
